This web site depicts photos and information of the Ormond Family, whether they be living in Mahia, New Zealand or overseas.
'This' Ormond Family owe the existence of their lives to John Davies and Hannah Ormond. J.D. sailed to Auckland, New Zealand, December 1847 on the "Ralph Bernal'', a mere sixteen years old at the time. He later met and married Miss. Hannah Richardson, December 4th, 1860 in the new church at 'Te Aute', Hawkes Bay.
Together they had six children, the eldest being George Canning. George Canning (known as G.C.) married Maraea Kiwi Te Ratahi Wharekete - the Mahia branch. Fanny never married, Caroline Jane "Carrie" died in infancy, Frank married and divorced. Ada Mary married Hamish Wilson - the Burleigh branch and John Davies Jnr. married Gladys Wilder - the Wallingford branch was born.
A Family Reunion, consisting of the three branches was held at Kaiuku Marae, Mahia, Easter 2005. The beautiful long sunny weekend, gave family members a chance to gather and meet with relations, reflect on their lives, ancestors & encounters. And most importantly, for the many families to come together as one, many of whom had never met before this auspicious occasion.
Photo's were taken throughout the weekend, the whole Ormond clan, branches, families and individual photo's. Photographs are more than welcome to be emailed to me to be shown on this website.
